This week the kids were able to allow their creative sides to flourish! They learned about the coordinate plane and its relation to the spatial relevance of the shapes they coded to create, and were taught about the pen extension and the importance of x and y values. After drawing a house with shapes, there was time at the end to reflect and have some free drawing time.

Now in their third week of programming, we focused on learning what loops are in code and putting that knowledge into practice, creating a program that allows the kids to combine interactive sprites with sounds to 'start their own band', and overall just allowing them to experiment with the interface with all of the programming skills they now know!
In today's lesson we focused on a part of programming called debugging, which is fixing problems in code, as well as learning about initialization blocks and how to start a good code. The students then applied this information in the same interface they used prior (Scratch) and got to create an initialization block and problem solved on how to fix bugs in their code.
This week the kids all were introduced into the world of programming! They learned about terms like an algorithm and an event in terms of coding, and were briefed on how to use Scratch interface and got to create a dance move by matching together different pieces of code.
