In this lesson, we are going to introduce the students to the energy in heat. The key take-away will be the heat of an object is determined by how active the object's atoms and molecules. We are going to demonstrate the idea by 3 activities: 1. Water Molecules on the move, this experiment will demonstrate if the molecules in the hot water is really moving faster than those in the colder water; 2. Warming air needs more room, this will demonstrate that the volume of the same amount of air will grow if the temperature of the air grows; 3. Thermometer Construction.
