In the next two lessons, students will be introduced to programming by explaining how coding is like writing instructions in a specific language. Students will be able to practice coding and be directed to resources to work on coding on their own. The lesson is broken up to multiple parts:

While students seemed to enjoy the specific instructions game, they were frustrated with the pace at which they could write their instructions. Perhaps next time the mentors can transcribe verbal instructions and then execute them.

1) The students got quite frustrated with how literally we followed their instructions to draw the house, so I asked them to draw a house themselves and narrate all the steps they were taking as they were doing it.

The second lesson seemed to go well. The students continued to go through the code.org lessons. I did think that enforcing pair-programming was effective. It kept my students engaged.
