In this lesson, we are going to introduce the students to the basic functioning of muscles and bones in the human body. There are three key take-away points: 1. The purpose of bones, muscles, and tendons; 2. How skeletons and muscles work together; 3. Know the existence and difference of three types of muscles; The lesson will be divided into three parts: 1. Model Elbow. We are going to simulate the functioning of elbow; 2. Types of Muscles. We are going to introduce the three types of muscles by observing the cells of different muscles; 3. Bones. We are going to outline the bones in different colors.

The lesson went pretty well. The microscopes were a hit and the floating arm trick was really interesting to the students. If we do this one again, the balloons were a bit distracting and the microscope section had a lot of words to keep track of. The model arm seemed to work okay, but ours kept falling apart. Maybe a better way to attach the "bones" would help.
