In this week's lesson, students will explore an important organ of the body that helps clean the blood and digest food: the liver! Through experiments on how the liver reacts to different conditions, students will learn how the liver breaks down our food. By observing how much the liver bubbles, students will be able to observe the amount of catalase enzyme is present in each of the liver conditions.

Lesson went really well! My group had some difficulty rationalizing why each treatment would affect enzyme activity, but they were able to successfully predicted the impact of each treatment on catalase activity. My group completed the lesson ~10 to 15 min early so we finished by revisiting the concept of an enzyme. It might be worth adding an additional activity or review at the end of the lesson to fill the remaining time.
