Regarding the lungs model, the effect is a bit subtle. I think it works better with a bigger bottle and bigger balloons and a bigger bottle.

Kids had a fun time making their own mini-lungs. As Raphael said, the effect was somewhat small but at least visible. They also enjoyed learning what their lung capacity was, though ferrying water to and from the sink did add a bit of time to the experiment. Doing three trials and recording the results was a bit ambitious, but every student got a chance to check their lung capacity.
